    Exercises To Help With Drooping Lids

    Poor sleep quality can be caused by psychological distress, physiological changes or eye muscle weakness. Eye muscle weakness is not such a common reason behind sleep issues. Eye muscle weakness or Ptosis, also commonly called droopy eyes. Several reasons can cause droopy eyes, some can be due to genes, and some can be due to a disease. Ptosis can occur when an injury causes the eyelids to weaken. In some rare cases, droopy eyes can also be caused by nerve damage. However, the most common reason for droopy or eye muscle weakness is ageing. As a person ages, the skin and the muscles of the eyes tend to weaken, which then causes droopy eyes. 

    Treatment For Eye Muscle Weakness

    The treatment for Ptosis usually depends on the weakness of the muscle and how well they are functioning. In most cases, no treatment is required if Ptosis is not causing any vision issues, to see more will help in further treatment. However, if the Ptosis is causing problems with vision, then treatment is a must. The treatment depends on the seriousness of the muscle weakness and the cause of the weakness. Muscle weakness caused by ageing usually requires surgery. 

    Exercises To Help With Droopy Lids

    As facial exercises have gained popularity in the last years, multiple pieces of research have proved their efficiency. Certain kinds of facial exercises have shown benefits in droopy lids, and to notice a change should be done daily. 

    • Yogic Exercises

    Trataka is a type of eye exercise that has shown positive results in the weakness of the eyelids. One such exercise is Bahiranga, which has specific steps to follow that show changes in the droopy lids. There are multiple versions for these exercises, so see more to avoid any further complications before practising. 

    • Eye Patches

    Wearing an eye patch may not have the same benefits as an exercise. However, it does help to strengthen the muscles. Although, eye patches are an impressive remedy for children with droopy lids since birth. If the child has severe Ptosis, then surgery is the best recommendable option. Eye surgeries are only done at the age of five in children to avoid any complications, and before a surgery procedure, the child is asked to wear eye patches for a week prior.
